We are excited to announce that Stephanie Prochaska successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation (Evaluation and Optimization of Surface Finishing Methods Toward Improving the Corrosion and Fatigue Performance of Additively Manufactured Laser-Powder Bed Fusion Metals) today.  Stephanie joined our group in 2019 after receiving a BS in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Utah in 2014, and a MS in Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship from Brown University in 2015. She spent 4 years working in industry prior to starting her PhD and continued working full time as a Materials Engineer at the US Bureau of Reclamation throughout her time at Mines.  She’s two published peer reviewed journal articles, with two more under review and one in progress.  Additionally, she won best student presentation at ICAM 2021 for her presentation on the Corrosion Response of Additively Manufactured 316L Stainless Steel.

We are all extremely proud of her and it was an honor to work with her.  Great job Dr. Prochaska!
